The benefits of ClearShield® and its end-product, ClearShield Eco-Glass™ go far beyond its easy-to-clean properties. It protects the glass surface from damage caused by corrosion, weathering and chemical contamination.
For architects, building contractors, building owners and facilities managers, ClearShield Eco-Glass™ gives the following benefits:
Building contractors face the problem of concrete splatter, cement dust and slurry and other types of alkaline construction materials damaging and corroding the surface of glass on building sites.
ClearShield Eco-Glass™ helps to reduce:
Inevitably, unprotected glass becomes contaminated over time, ruining a building's appearance. Typical contaminants include concrete and silicone run-off, traffic fumes, tree sap and bird lime.
The result is costly and difficult cleaning. With ClearShield Eco-Glass™ however, this means:
ClearShield Eco-Glass™ can be specified for building projects prior to installation. The advantage is that glass is protected before, during and after the construction phase and helps to minimise delays. Contact us if you are interested in specifying ClearShield Eco-Glass™.
For glass already contaminated during or after construction, our specialist on-site team can renovate contaminated glass to its original 'as-new' appearance and then provide effective protection from future contamination.
The owners of the Lloyd's Building found that paint on the frame around the atrium was shedding and plating onto the glass and adhered to the surface, making cleaning extremely difficult. The glass was successfully converted to 'non-stick' ClearShield Eco-Glass™. Today, the paint still flakes but thanks to ClearShield® the glass is easily wiped off and conventional cleaning methods are still sufficient to maintain the glass but with less frequency.
Lloyds' Building Facilities Manager said, "We are very impressed with ClearShield®, it has been extremely beneficial to our facilities management operation and we intend to carry on with the aftercare regime."
For glass in platform shelters, bridges, waiting areas and rolling stock, ClearShield Eco-Glass™ is the ideal solution for...
Glass at Luton Parkway station not only had to contend with the usual dirty residue from diesel trains, but also unburnt hydrocarbons from aviation fuel generated by aircraft taking off and landing at nearby Luton Airport. The glass had not been cleaned since the station opened in 1999 so there was a significant amount of dirt build-up. Thameslink Rail, the company that runs the station, had to find a long-lasting solution. Thameslink contacted Ritec to provide the answer with ClearShield Eco-Glass™ which was subsequently applied.
The Head of Retail for Thameslink Rail said: "The glazing was difficult to keep clean – regular window cleaning was not effective and was costly. We needed something that kept glass cleaner longer and, if needed, made the cleaning easier to do. ClearShield Eco-Glass™, was the ideal solution and I would recommend it to anyone.
Metal oxides, such as dust from rails and brake pads, as well as usual atmospheric pollution will badly stain and discolour glass. Cleaning the dirt build-up is exceedingly difficult, if not impossible. Not only does dirty glass affect visibility, it also creates an unclean and unsafe image. The ClearShield Eco-System™ can renovate glass to an 'as-new' appearance.
ClearShield Eco-Glass™ resists staining and discolouration, keeping all glass looking like new for longer. This results in increased passenger comfort and satisfaction as well as reduced maintenance requirements.
